The Notebook
Noah fell for Allie, beautiful and from a wealthy family. Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton didn't like Noah for Allie because they believed that he doesn't deserve her. Noah was a country boy while Allie was a city girl of money. That summer, they shared joy and love. Allie was forced to go college, leaving Noah behind. Noah, loving Allie so much, sent 360 letters for a year, one letter each day. After so much of waiting, he decided to serve for World War II. When he returned, his father gave up their house and gave it to Noah. He restored an old house near the river. He worked very hard to make the house look as new. After some writers discovered Noah's amazing job and posted it in a newspaper, Allie returned to North Carolina. Allie decided to choose Noah over Lon, a wealthy soldier and her fiancé.
"The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds. And that's what you've given me. That's what I'd hoped to give you forever."
- from The Notebook
Allie and Noah's endless love touched my heart. Until the part where Noah/Duke reads to Allie. Allie was suffering from Alzheimer's. Patiently, Duke told Allie the story of their love from the notebook that Allie kept. There were rough times but Duke managed to hold tight for Allie.
5 stars for both.
