Goodbye
Say goodbye to summer and hello school. Ugh, I'll miss summer sunshine. I'll miss the very hot weather and the annoying feeling. Will miss jogging with my parents every Sunday morning. Will me reading fiction books with all my heart and time. I'll miss everything.

Let's list down my goals for this coming school year.
  1. Save money - Oh please, Ella. Learn to save money and stop being MALUHO ! ;)
  2. Study hard - Take this more seriously.
  3. Enjoy your last year in High School/PCS - Oh yes, I better should.
  4. Avoid the nostalgic feeling - It'll make you sad.
  5. Avoid doodling during class. Haha.
  6. Learn to love (or just like) MATH and Physics.
  7. Thank God for another great year.

Last

Finally, ate Fhia is back here in the Philippines. She's my eldest sister. We watched The Last Song. A movie based on Nicholas Sparks' novel with the same title. I've been so excited to watch this.

The story is about a girl, Ronnie, who is sent to her father's to spend time with him. This character is played by Miley Cyrus. When their (Ronnie and her brother Jonah) parents divorced, their father moved to a house near a beach. Years later, Ronnie remains angry - until this summer story began.

She found people who changed her life. Will, her first love. Blaze, a new found friend. Jonah, a loyal brother. She found herself loving music -the only thing that connects her to her dad.

Another story of love, celebration of life. An unforgettable tale of love between parents and children.

Will buy the book, soon. :)

Twilight

Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Saga is an int'l bestseller. I've read the book - Twilight. It's not as bad as I thought. I used to dislike this whole Twilight thing. I wondered why people go gaga for this and that vampire-boy.

The first thought that entered my mind was, "Anong natutunan ko?"
Ayon na, ang sagot ko, "Wala." Another disappointment. What a waste of time!

It's about Bella, a typical girl and a transferee to a new school, and the vampire-boy. He's sweet - Edward Cullen. Everybody, the readers, liked/likes him. Edwards struggles because he can smell Bella blood. Bella risks her life just to be with him - though she appeared kind'a stupid.

But this book (Sorry but) wasted my time. But at least, I realized it earlier than others did. Well, maybe it's only for entertaining. I believe that the most important thing in reading is learning. Ohh.
Maybe Stephenie thought that we all need a break from all the perfect fairytale stories - she's right, then.

The film, though fanatics are usually disappointed, is a way better than the book. The director and producers brought out the best. Good casting and interesting plot. They know where to cut and where to add good stuffs. I liked the movie than the book.

Dear John

Another Nicholas Sparks' Classic. True love knows when to let go. Story of John, an soldier, and Savannah. They met in the most unexpected time. The found love at each other. When John left for his job, the decided to send letters to each other. "Dear John", the two words that shook their world. Returning home, John should face the land he left, finding answers for his question and looking for the woman she fell in love with last vacation.

Find yourselves crying. Nicholas is great in putting twists in his stories. Some find this disappointing but some find it worth-reading. Moving story plus great words used.

The film starring Channing Tatum and Amanda Seyfried is great. Can't find the right words to describe it - though The Notebook is a lot better than this. Good actors and good story = Job well done.

The Notebook

My favorite book and my favorite movie. A story of true love. The story revolves around Noah and Allie, starting from their carefree years to gray hair days. Nicholas Sparks' The Notebook is, somehow, a story of miracle of love and its power.

Noah fell for Allie, beautiful and from a wealthy family. Mr. and Mrs. Hamilton didn't like Noah for Allie because they believed that he doesn't deserve her. Noah was a country boy while Allie was a city girl of money. That summer, they shared joy and love. Allie was forced to go college, leaving Noah behind. Noah, loving Allie so much, sent 360 letters for a year, one letter each day. After so much of waiting, he decided to serve for World War II. When he returned, his father gave up their house and gave it to Noah. He restored an old house near the river. He worked very hard to make the house look as new. After some writers discovered Noah's amazing job and posted it in a newspaper, Allie returned to North Carolina. Allie decided to choose Noah over Lon, a wealthy soldier and her fiancé.
"The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds. And that's what you've given me. That's what I'd hoped to give you forever."

- from The Notebook

Allie and Noah's endless love touched my heart. Until the part where Noah/Duke reads to Allie. Allie was suffering from Alzheimer's. Patiently, Duke told Allie the story of their love from the notebook that Allie kept. There were rough times but Duke managed to hold tight for Allie.

5 stars for both.

Life is PRECIOUS

Precious : Based on the novel Push by Sapphire. It's about an overweight, not-so-intelligent, and pregnant 16y/o Claireece AKA "Precious". Her unemployed mom, Mary, is abusive. Her father, boyfriend of Mary, raped her and impregnated her twice. I was in a total shock then. When the school received the info about Precious - being pregnant for the second time, she got suspended from school and the principal helped her to go to an alternative school. There are some SUPERSTAR Scenes - Precious imagined. Precious found new friends - real friends to comfort her. After giving birth to Abdul, Mary and Precious' relationship gone worse. In the social worker's office, Mary confessed the reasons why she hits and is really mad at Precious. I was touched, Esp. when Precious leaves with Mongo - short term for Mongoloid and is her first baby, and with Abdul.

Note : Mariah C is here but I didn't recognize her. She looks old and serious in this film. Precious is the title of the Film. My blogpost's title is a part of the movie's tagline.

Spy Next Door

This is my first Jackie Chan film, a family-comedy film. Jackie Chan AKA Bob Ho is a CIA Spy. Some action or more action - kung fu and other martial arts, I expected. In this "Spy" movie, he wanna leave his job and marry his girlfriend, Gillian. Nobody knows he's a spy, even his girlfriend. Gillian's children (Ian, Farren, and Nora) don't want their mommy to marry Bob. Well, at least Nora, the youngest, likes Bob. Nora is my favorite. Aside from being sooooo cute, she loves pink too. Mixture of laughter, and some tears. It's a sweet film - well, sweet in the family part. I like films like this, another is The Pacifier, that revolves around family to laughter and some action.
